Went to the PP tech page and have made up some of those cool air/fuel ratio meters. I am looking at using two ( so I can monitor each side of the engine). I have 44 IDF's and my theory is to more quickly isolate which side is going south.
So my question for the day is where is the best place to install the oxygen sensors in a Bursch 4 2 1 muffler pipe. If I go all the way to where the tubes become two it seems like a long haul away from the heads. If I put them in the SSI heat exchanger I will only monitor one cylinder each side. Four meters is kinda pushing it but.

Do you gain that much from two? I have seen alot of posts that the ratio jumps all over the place most of the time. It seems like it would be hard to keep an eye on two A/F gauges as you are driving?
Just curious..

I use a single O2 sensor on my race car and it is in the collector since I have a 4 into 1 system. I use it mainly for full throttle since it registers just slightly rich but when I let off to brake it pegs lean which is normal I guess? I'd recommend using a powered O2 sensor (three wire) as it will heat up faster and they give slightly more accurate readings. Good luck.

I know I'd found that article before, but am struggling now. Where is the 'tech page'? Duh - thanks.

you need to go to the main PP page, 914 tech articles, about halfway down. I must have not been paying attention when I envisioned this. the Bursch 4 2 1 pipe is a tuned unit. so 2 and 4 merge and 1 and 3 merge. I think I will go with putting the O2 sensors on the SSI inboard pipes. I may put the two strings of lights in place of the radio.

I have the sensor just past the collector. When a cylinder goes away, you notice it. You just don't know what side, but you know something is amiss. I highly recommend the heated sensor. I plan to switch to heated sometime in the future.

What type of O2 sensor i severyone using? I have been told the Ford 5.0L sensor is not too expensive. about $50 for a 3-wire.
Are there any better sources for 3-wire sensors? Thanks
