Material to glue carb plug?

Need to replace one of the plugs near the bottom of the one of the Weber carbs on my 914. (Made a nice gas leak!). Can I use super glue to put back or if not, what material should I use?

Stuart,

I have tried different things and the best solution is:

remove the carbs, tap all four of these holes with an appropriate thread size, purchase short allen thread screws and a sealant that is not suseptable to fuel.

A little more work, but you will never have to worry about them leaking again.

Ditto Brant reply:

This same problem happened to me (on one of my 44 IDFs).

I tapped the hole(s) and allen-set-screw plugged it after coating the treads with some 2-part epoxy.

No leaks, period.

Thanks guys. After I posted this I got to thinking that tapping them was the best solution. Wonder why they didn't do that in the first place!! Another winter project...
