Sideshifter conversion
I am converting a tailshifter car to a sideshifter. Changing the motor mounting bar, is there a piece made to replace the old motor mounts for bar attachment or do I just need to fabricate something?

Sideshifter conversion
Besides the obvious shape difference of the motor crossmember, there are a number of other differences when changing it. With the tail shifter crossmember, the rubber mounts were on the chassis and the bar bolted to them. The bar then was solidly attached to the engine. With the sideshifter, the rubber mounts went between the motor and crossmember and the crossmember bolted solidly to the chassis. The pieces you're looking for to attach the mount to the chassis are U-shapped and attach to the same holes that the original rubber mount atached to. You may have to do some hunting, but they should be available, though they are probably expensive. I have a parts catalog home and could get you the actual Porsche p/n if you'd like.
