I did a 5 lug conversion on my 73 914 many years ago. Now I need to replace the ball joints. I have a new one but I don't know if it is the pre 1972 911 ball joint or the "newer style" My five lug donner 911 was a 1969 and has an actual bolt and nut verses the threaded lock pin that came originally on my 914. So what is the difference and how can I tell which one I have? The numbers on the ball joint rubber are 032-00 002-00 12 but that looks like tolerances not part numbers? Additionally any good tricks for getting the buggers off? I do have the special tool for my impact wrench but this chore has always been a son of a beach
![]() The 2 ball joint part numbers are: 901-341-049-00-M69 - 911/912 (1969-71), NOTE: use Bolt 900-075-111-08-OEM & 911-341-049-01-M69 - 914 1.7/1.8/2.0 (07/72-76), 914-6 (06/72 on) Thanks in advance D-Monet |

Early ball joint which uses a bolt & nut will have a half moon shape machined out of the ball joint stem.
Later ball joint which uses the double taper pin will have a "pie" shaped cut machined out of the ball joint stem.
