Angry EFI wiring...

Hopefully someone has an idea for me...

While putting my motor back in the car, the connector for the pressure sensor, pulled off(don't ask me how) from of the white wires that were connected to the connector. I've soldered some of the pins back and it dawned on me, how and the hell does one figure out what the 7, 8, 10, and 15 are since the color of all the wires is white?

Motor is back in and all hooked up except for this connector, so I'm hoping someone has run into this before.

Thanks,
Eric Garrett

As you've probably noticed, the connector on the MPS is labeled with 7, 8, 10, and 15, so you know where the wires go on that end. The other end is the ECU plug, count across the plug to 7, 8, 10, and 15, those are the same as at the MPS. Use a DMM in continuity mode to identify each wire. Should take you about 2 minutes once you get the ECU out and the plug removed.

Take a look at the section on the wiring harness in my D-Jet parts web page for more information.

Brad, I think you're leaving off a couple of key steps in this process...

Step 1: Remove the ECU from the bracket in front of the battery.
Step 2: Slide off the plastic cover from the end of the ECU, and reach in and unplug the wiring harness from it.

Then count the wires as Brad said... You will have to plug it all back together again, of course.

Actually there is more...

Individual cavities on the 25pole connector housing are numbered. Look carefully on the back of the housing, where the wires exit. Even the wires are numbered on original harnesses.

I only mention this, because it would be important if one began counting the wires from the wrong end of the 25 pole housing, you would be in the wrong neighborhood of the connector...

FYI Each wire in the FI harness and certain connector housings and FI components are numbered for your tracing reference...including the ECU connector, MPS, trigger contacts (hmmm, not sure, but I think so), TPS and the 4 pole regulator plate connector housing. The other housings are not numbered because they are not polarized and it is not important which way they insert (fuel injectors, CSV) into the component. Actually the MPS can be inserted either way as well as it is a non-polarized connection, even though the wires are numbered on the MPS body.

Sorry for the ramble.
