Nice looking car ! If you see it again copy the driver side windshield VIN plate number. Then check the VIN database on World. If it's already registered, it will be listed. If it's not listed yet, you can add it. There are almost 7,000 VINs in the database.
FYI- when I come across a 914, I take a pic of the car and the VIN plate.

That damn luggage rack.
I had two of cars with that damn rack over the years. I always hated it. Just a big ugly chrome thing that placed unnecessary drilled holes in the deck lid!

I have my original one still installed, I think I'll find some rubber plugs to block off the mounting holes, and be prepared for the possibilty of putting it back to original if I want/need to in the future. Now as far as the bus rack goes, that one is STAYIN'

The 914 had two trunks. How much more do you need?

Ever been on a 3000 mile roadtrip with your girlfriend in the passenger seat?
PS: Plus, i lose about half of the front trunk due to the oil-cooler ducting ...

I had thule racks for these cars. the Volvo feet for the thule rack, along with the 4 foot bar actually clamp down perfectly to a 914 rear deck lid and leave no marks. The cool part is all the clamp on stuff you can use from Thule.... And you can remove them after the trip...or at the hotel... I got two bikes on the car that way once... Rich |

I actually put most of my miles on the bus in a small Michigan beach town called Caseville, I put the bus in a few shows, and rather than having a normal sign to show the build details I used the surf board as a sign board. By the way, in August and September we get some SWEET waves on the North shore of Caseville, you'd be surprised.
The bus came from Ventura, one day I'll get her back home, maybe a Route 66 trip? ...and the rack is definitely coming off the 914, maybe i'll pick up a few more MPH... |
