Tri-gauge and remodeled dash
I spent the last two weeks of evenings building a tri-gauge using a kit that came with my car that I believe was from PP. I also changed my tach to a 8k and decided while I had everything apart to cut new dash panels from aluminum sheeting I got at a salvage yard. The whole job was alot of work but it looks great and the gauge works perfect. So far I put the aluminum on the center and left panels. It has a dimpled pattern and reminds me of a Buggati dash. It really dresses up the interior. I'll do the passenger side next weekend. Those panels will actually be easier to cut.

That looks killer man, I really like it. I want to do the same thing with my dash, only in carbon fiber.

I have done my center dash area with a carbon fiber panel. Looks really clean. I am waiting on a dash gauge in carbon to arrive.

Curious about your triple gauge panel. I have a panel out of a 911 that has oil pressure, oil temp but no feul. I was going to put a separate fuel gauge to the left of the steering wheel. Where did ou get the temp and pressure senders? My stock senders give wacky readings on the gauge.

Craig,
That sounds really cool. I was thinking about doing it myself, but apparently you bought yours? Out of curiosity, where from? (I also have been considering trying to make some carbon door panels...)

Jabez; The kit I used came with my car when I bought it but I believe it was from Pelican. The instructions have a page that shows all the different year gauges for 911's and the corresponding senders for that gauge. You probably need to change your senders. If you e-mail me the part # of your gauge I can tell you what sender it shows on the list. My tri-gauge was a combination 914 fuel and 911 temp and pressure gauges.

My 914-6 came with the triple combo gauge, I really like this. If I did not have theis gauge what I would probably do is go with a tach and have a oil pressure gauge installed by North Hollywood, They have one in there catalog. This is really neat because you can see the oil pressure right through the top of the steering wheel spokes. That way you stay with the stock fuel and temp gauge, which I have changed on my 914-4 to a numerical gauge.
The carbon fiber center panel for my dash was one that I made out of a sheet of carbon fiber that I purchased at a Tap Plastic store. $85.00 for a 4x3 foot sheet. Then I got MOMO Phantom carbon fiber shift knob, looks very good. Anymore carbon fiber on the interior is going to be to much, at least for my taste. You can get 914-4 carbon fiber valve covers and there are watershields for the weber and zenith triple carbs. Craig C. Laughlin CAMP 914-6 |
