V8 Conversion
I have access to a fairly clean and rustfree carcass that I am thinking about converting to V8. I know this has been asked before, but does anyone have any first hand knowledge of the conversion. I'm looking for a site that someone has done or a blow by blow of the conversion. Which kit is better, renegade, red dawg...I just really want to know the good the bad and the ugly. I know this subject may inflame some and intrigue others, but at least I'm not cutting the car into pieces.

Randy,
My research found Renegade Hybrids to be top shelf and they provide excellent customer support.......something not too common now days. Go to Yahoo groups and check out the Porschev group. You will find thousands of questions/answers for your viewing pleasure. You will also see how the various kit providers rank (RH, Rod Simpson and Reddawg). I've been into my v8 conversion since Jan. and learned just about all the things I needed to know about v8 conversions at Porschev and everything else about 914s here. I'm a fan of customer support and feel Pelican and Renegade are leaders in this area. John jthomas235@comcast.net

I cant say this without sounding like a broken record, but your best bet would be to purchase a Renegade kit.
They are the leaders for V8 conversion's much like Pelican is the leader in online Porsche parts sales. Renegade has a forward thinking staff of people, not a business ran out of their garage like Simpson and RedDawg. I have installed many different kits over the last 10 years and have a very good understanding of what it takes to build nice conversion cars. Renegade supplies you with the best components to make this happen. B |
