3.0L engine - What's it worth?
1979 3.0L engine - still has CIS.
82K documented miles. Slight oil leak. 2 broken head studs. (Might as well plan on replacing them all). No other mods to the engine. Runs well. What's this engine worth? Thanks,

To replace the heads studs is worth about 40 hrs at a shop.
Not cheap to fix. Then if you have to redo the valves, seats, cyl, etc... Also, how long has the engine been run w/broken head studs?? If you were to do it yourself, I would say the motor is worth low of $500 to a max of $1000 IMHO It is much cheaper to find a good 3.0 or 3.2, than to rebuild a 3.0. However, it is a fun project to rebuild a motor.

Yep. I have to agree with Jim on this one.
Its a core engine. I dont care how it runs. 1500$ tops. I have a brand new set fo Euro P+Cs for a 3.0 B |

If you can convience the seller its a core engine I do not think you will get it for less than $2000 if you do than you have a good deal.

I saw. I ran the numbers to see what a Canadian car would have.
It has the lower compression engine at 8.3:1 It does however have the larger intake and exhaust ports than the normal USA 3.0 This is a ROW car. B Last edited by Brad Roberts; 08-13-2002 at 11:41 AM.. |
