Switching to Carbs: Distributor ?

I've heard conflicting advice on the distibutor. Do you need to switch from the stock Dist. on a 73' 2.0? Or is there a way to hook up the Vacuum advance to weber 44's? Help:confused:

Some Webers have a fitting on them that sees "ported vacuum". This is a vacuum that occurs when the throttle is open a little bit, but not all the way.

I think most or all Webers have a boss where you can drill and add a fitting for ported vacuum.

This would get connected to the fitting on the distributor dashpot that points away from the distributor body.

If you can hook up the vacuum advance, the stock distributor is the way to go. (1.8 one especially!) If not, then stock or 050 should be OK. Don't bother with the 009, its only virtue is that it's cheap.
