Thanks Guys. It does move under its own power, as I recall the clutch in this motor tranny combo is weak, so tomorrow when I can round up a few friends if we have to push it up the driveway, I will see how it drives a short way (its insured but no tags yet, that will be a nightmare I expect)

When in doubt, always park on a hill, and NEVER leave home w/o your AAA card

Actually it has always had a starting problem that’s part of the reason it was parked. I posted on that one already and ignition switch seems to be the consensus. but for my own personal learning, what’s the hot start problem?

I've accomplished what I wanted to which was to make sure I could get it to run without having to buy a lot of very expensive D-Jet components. It runs well enough that I'm sure once the wiring is restored and the rebuilt engine is in the D-Jet will be fine.

Now I can set out to get started on the motor. Powder coat anyone?

And yeah I should join triple A.

So now the journey really begins. Be carefull out there. Now that it runs make sure it will stop. I suspect you are far from done. You still have the what's up with these weak brakes. how big of tires can I put on it, whats this do?, and above all keep the "while I'm in here I should fix this too monster" at bay. So how much of that fine German rust is your car carrying around?
