leaking fuel from the right side head :( HELP!

I just had the engine out because I wanted to take the heads in for a valve job. I also replaced the oil seals on thoes tubes. I put it all back together and slap it into the car. Hook everything put and try to start it up. After a couple tries it starts up.. but pretty rough... So I am trying to get the timing right with my timing light and notice some smoke coming from under the car. I turn it off and see what is going on.. Then I notice a small puddle under the car... I jack it up and see where it is coming from. I take a look at it and its gas. It looks like it is coming from where the head meets the cylinder. Its the one facing the back of the car... 3 or 4... can't remember right off hand. Now what could cause this? I used a torque wrench to tighten the heads down to spec. I really don't want to take the engine out... again.. but if I have to I have too... If any of you guys have seen this problem or know anything about it.. please let me know...

Check the fuel lines and injectors including the cold start valve!
I don't see how a puddle of gas could come out of a cylinder unless it's not firing at all.
OR it has to be leaking above it and is dripping down across the head in question.
Check and recheck your fuel line with the distributor unpluged so you don't have any sparks. Turn the key to pressurize the fuel system and look for leaks.....

Btw- Hope you have a fire extinguisher handy just in case.

I had a similar problem with one head leaking oil, or weeping as I was told on the shoptalk4rum. Apparently as the heads cool they can let oil out but should be ok at operating temps. I re-tourqed the head (B**** to do with the engine still in) but I've only run it for a short period and haven't checked if the problem is fixed.
As for raw fuel..... not sure how this would get there in sufficient amounts to form a puddle unless one of the petrol hoses was leaking. I'm thinking the petrol would be either burnt in the combustion or evaporate with the heat of the engine ( luckily not catching fire)

Crazy.

Sounds like an injector is hung open and pushing fuel into that cylinder. Carefully pull the injector rail off that side and point both injectors into a "catch can" (read.. tupperware bowl) and turn the key on. See if one of the injectors "leaks" down after you cycle the fuel pump.

This sounds cool. Havent had this happen to me (yet)

well I just went out there and checked it out again.... First I think it was only firing on 2 cylinders... I really couldn't tell the difference because all I have on are the heat exchangers..... VERY LOUD. I think that might have been my problem.... Right now I am reading... which I should have done in the first place... to make sure I got all the stuff going to where it needs to be... then I will time it tomorrow...

Hate to admit that Brad hit it on the nose -

Bought my last project as "runner & driver". When I tried to start it, it fired off (kinda) and created a small fire in in the heat exchanger area. Drug it back to the shop and tried again - heavy smell of fuel and wet on the ground beneath the pass side AND fuel running out the exh pipe.

Replaced injectors on pass side. Fired it up. Exhaust looked like water spray from fire boat (for a few seconds).

The injector was stuck open - (verified by professional injector rebuilder I sent it to) - Nuff said?

I had two extinguishers on hand.

Had this exact problem a few weeks back. Hard starting, smell of gas when I turned on the heater blower and poor mileage. Sure enough when I finally got around to popping the hood, there was a puddle of gasoline on the tin by one of the injectors. It seemed to be stuck open and the rubber seal was so old and hard that some of the excess gas leaked out rather than into the intake pipe. Replaced the injector and all problems solved. Confirmed stuck open with bench test.
