Been working with the hosting company on a more permanent "fix".

We do have a firewall for the server but the way that is setup, it still generates a lot of load on the server during an attack and we're looking at other options to reduce the impact.

Basically, the attack has left the server drained of resources and it can't respond to any legit traffic.

I don't think much will happen over the weekend though, the guys at the colo are short on staff and it is the weekend after new years.

Hopefully, we'll be back by Monday ...

Certain service providers offer ddos obsorbtion as a service.
They see it, re-route it to a bigger server, and filter out the attacker.
It takes bandwidth and a bigger server to deal with them.
Basically, they absorb the hits and dump it.

I got a 30 day time out but that apparently wasn't enough. Hmmm, that was almost two years ago. I guess my point is, when world goes down, fear not, it's not the end of the world. (So to speak).
