Floor Mats???
I would like to hear some thoughts on the different types of floor mats out there for a 914.
Cheers

I would advise against the Lloyds mats. I bought the plain black ones from PP. The material is nice but frankly the design sucks. First, they aren't a full mat. They don't extend all the way up around the pedals like the original carpets. They stop short just below the pedals.
The other problem is that since they don't extend all the way up, they really need to be held down. They come with these plastic screw-in things, that you are supposed to install in the original carpet. (Not the best idea for concourse weenies who wouldn't want to drill holes in their factory carpet.) The problem is that these plastic hold-downs are located exactly where you find the knobs in the floor boards that the factory carpets hook in to. You can't even use these hold-downs even if you did want to drill holes in your carpets. Lloyds obviously didn't do their research on the 914. It seems like these problems would have been obvious if anyone at the company had ever actually lived with the mats in a 914 for a week. |

THANKS.. Iwas actually looking into the Loyds.
I guess the search is still on for a nice set of mats for a daily/weekend driver.

VA914,
I have a set of black mats in my 914 that unlike the Lloyds mats do extend up and completely around the pedals. They stay in place with no hold-downs or clips necessary. Mine have the "PORSCHE" script in yellow stitched across the middle, but my 914 is yellow and is a nice complement. The tag on the back indicates they are from The Mat Works Ltd. Alpharetta GA Tel # 770-663-0042. The PO installed them so I do not know where they were bought.

If I was going to try again I think I'd give Cocomats a try:
http://www.cocomats.com/ They look very cool. I love the vintage look. I'd call them first though and find out if they go around the pedals. |

I got a full carpet set w/ mats from Original Fit Interiors (209.852.9084). Cut to shape, plain black "GM" carpet w/ the plastic edging and rubber heel in pedal area for $115. Not OE but works for me. Looks good! No balling or sheding.
That's just slightly more that a nice pair of mats. |

Curvie:
Those look pretty good...I wonder if they have any other colors? I was hoping for blue piping or silver (ah well, can't always get what 'cha want). I have some of the Loyd's mats. The mats themselves are very nice...too bad they don't fit the 914 worth a crap! Nathan

They sell black trimmed in red, silver or yellow. The silver can pass for white. Nice product. Almost always on Ebay. Reserve is about $86 so you don't save much.

Bought the Lloyd's also ... didn't like them at all due to poor fit on driver's side ... returned them.
Bought the PAP in black with silver trim and custom lettering (916 V8)and they fit great, look great and get my thumbs up - $100.

Why yes, they do look nice. I like the idea that they go around the pedal area! GREAT, now I have something else to add to the list
Curvie: Did you fab up that extinguisher mount? I NEED to get one for mine. Nathan
