Mangled Center Caps
I have fuchs wheels with the chrome center caps. The caps basically look like Swanson Potpie tins after four drunk college kids wolfed down the grub after a night of heavy drinking.
Given that they are chrome, there is no way to reshape them with acceptable results. So, I was thinking of popping in the face on them, punching some holes for "grip", and applying bondo to the surface. After some sanding/finishing, hitting them with a satin black paint. They would look new and clean.........but be black. I'd really like some opinions on this. I feel a little bit like I'm about to slap Sherwin Williams on a set of Chippendale chairs, or replace the colored glass in a Tiffany lamp.........

I think I saw some black plastic replacements in the tweeks catalogue....but I had a similar problem...Our hosts here at PP were quite helpful and I bought a set of the replacement caps from them. Not cheap, but they sure look like a million bucks.

Hi
Personally I think satin black center caps would be excellent. But for another idea, take a look at this link which shows how to use your dinged up caps as a base with inexpensive 924 caps with porsche crests. http://www.pelicanparts.com/MotorCity/mmueller/center_cap1.jpg best Mark |
