Injector cleaning voltage

Hey guys,

New to this forum with a 914. I have a 71 914 1.7L that I want ready for this summer.

I have removed my injectors to clean them. I am pretty sure they are clogged and need a good cleaning. Got new seals to replace as well since I have them out. Getting good gas pressure to them but no gas to plugs.

I don't want to burn them up so what voltage should I use to activate the injectors when spraying my cleaner. I have heard 12v is to much for these.

Thanks in advance.

Are you cycling them or just leaving them open? I think they can probably handle more voltage if you cycle them.

Your question is likely answered in Brad Anders' D-jet Bible.

It appears that the voltage across the injectors when they are being held open is about 4 to 5 V. So you should be fine providing that. Note that it might take more to open them initially.

Thanks for the response. I was just going to cycle them. I read somewhere that a lower voltage was better. Just wanted to run it by you guys. Didn't want to over do it. I don't know for sure if they are clogged but a good cleaning was definitely needed. Been sitting for a while. Figured I would start there.

Thanks again!
