Fishing for race car prices
Many of you know about my 914 race car. I'm wondering if I should sell it. It has only been on the track once and the motor is toast. Here's a reminder of what the car is:
Stripped interior, no door glass and fully caged Momo Seat, Crow harness 911 front suspension with S calipers and Porterfield pads. Konis in front, Bilsteins in back on 160lb. springs. Rear brakes are off 911 as well, ventilated and no ebrake Short ratio trans no limited slip, sachs 4 puck clutch 15 x 7 BBS wheels w/ VR 700's run once, less than 10 laps 4:1 header w Supertrap Chasiss reinforcement kit, boxed arms Front mounted oil cooler in 916 FG bumper, 916 FG rear too 2056 w 1 hr needs piston set and reassembled 40mm IDF's, stock 009 dizzy and Crane Hyfire. 44 x 38 SS valves, HD single springs, new seats, cc'd at 53 Agressive Elgin regrind AND, everything is super clean, eat off any surface including bottom. Has new bushings, lines, rebuilt pedals, Weltmeister shift kit, VDO guages and all kinds of little niceties. What's this thing worth? Anyone interested? If it stays here, I'm getting brand new Webers and a Mallory dizzy. With the new pistons, I'm looking at $1200 to go back to the track. At that point I'll be in it $12,000 in parts, no labor included. Last edited by Zeke; 08-22-2003 at 10:55 PM.. |

Well, aftter this post sitting for 5 days, 58 looks and 0 replies, I can see what race cars mean to my bank account. Zero. I'll part it out when the time comes.

ya I kinda really doubt you're gonna get as much out of it as you've got into it.

Milt,
I am sorry to see that your race car project is for sale, going for parts, etc. I wish you could have had more time in the cockpit racing. I know what the costs and returns are when deciding to get rid of a project. This is where it hits you directly in the face Do not get in any hurry to get rid of anything and everything. Time will let you know what to do and then you will do it. When you you have a few moments, send me a PM. I noted you have not be as active on the 914club or Pelican boards. Sincerely, Steve Hurt shoguneagle@yahoo.com |
