wanted, 914 Tailshift tranny

Looking for that old tranny that is just lying around. I want to gut it for the 3-5 gear set. Looking for Real cheap price. Local to TX would be best, no reason to ship a beat tranny. (cost wise)
Thanks.

You know that sounds like a great idea, but, I've never torn open a tranny, and I was going to use the 914 as a "practice" run to see just what I'm getting into. See, I want to put them in my 902/1 912 tranny. I put a type 4 motor in a 911, with a 912 tranny. the gearing is all off. A 914 gear set is made(Geared) for a type4 motor. I have a buddy that has done this, and it works great.

Thanks, and what would a gear set run($) If I may ask? lol

Taking trannies apart is easy. Even a "chango" (AKA "monkey") like me can do it. Putting them back together is where some skill and expertise is required. ;>)

When I started working on Porsches, the mechanic I worked with took apart my 901 tranny. He did it quickly and could have done it blindfolded. When he was done, he had the internal parts sorted in two piles.

When I asked him why there were two piles, he said, "I can reuse the parts in this pile, that pile is yours".
