1973 914 shell with factory steel flares fitted
I bought a 73 shell with the steel factory flares correctly butt welded on a few months ago, my intention was to make a six conversion. This car had been prepped by a racing team and has things like the air vent between the wipers blanked off and the lock hole in the rear panel welded up.
It is an original CA car and is virtually rust free, save for some light surface, the only area I can find is just on the inside of the firewall, the clutch tube has also been welded on the firewall side and needs redoing. The rest of the shell is really excellent, comes with doors but nothing else. This was the shell that was sitting out up at Sears Point, built by Griggs racing. I priced out having the flares welded to my 914/6 and the cost of just fitting them from several shops was between $1000 and $2000, that on top of the cost of the factory flares themselves. This shell is absolutely ideal if you want to build either a racer or just transfer all of the parts off of your east coast rust bucket. The hell hole is sound as are the two longitudinals. The car has rear suspension and most of the front minus the hubs. Asking $2000, it will be sold on a bill of sale as the car has been in this unused state since the late 80's.

![]() I didn't bother taking the lid you see in the picture firstly because it had 4 holes drilled in it and secondly because I was going to run glass fiber. Even though it was destined to be a racing car they didn't cut out the trunk floor which is sound, it does have a cross brace strengthening seation which fits in between the shock towers but it was never fitted, it is included

I think that is way over priced. I've seen runners with flares for that much and flared rollers for $500. Just a suggestion, but look on ebay and look at what your shape car is going for.

Thanks Mike, I'll bear it in mind.
My price is based on this. Factory steel flares worth well over 1k -that is if Auto Atlanta flares are worth 950-which I think they are. Having them fitted, again well over 1k, a rust free shell, $600 I don't think you'll find any $500 steel flared rollers on EBay But I appreciate your opinion

Sounds like a damn good deal to me, for the person looking for a track/hotrod project.
