FS: 1978 SC Coupe - Whole or Parts
Here it is. As many of you know, I just bought the Blue SC. That one is a bit rough but has a fairly good engine in it. I was going to move the engine from the Blue one to my tan SC. I have decided to keep the blue and just fix that one slowly with time. So, the tan SC needs to go.
Here are the stats: 1978 911 SC - sunroof coupe Cashmere Beige (exterior)/cork leather (interior) 92,xxx miles on the chassis and motor. Both are original. Clean title, actual miles. Body and paint are in very good condition. Paint is original color but has had a very good paint job. Few rock chips around car but has been touched up with body color paint. It looks very good up close and from afar. Chassis is straight. No accidents. Zero rust (verified from at least 2 independent mechanics - my local and when I had the PPI done) Tranny shifts good. Clutch is good. Can get into 1st gear rolling if you want. No problems at all shifting into other gears. Sport Seats. H4's Turbo Tail 7x8x16 black fuchs. Tires are decent. Rears may be a little worn. Brakes are good. Interior seats are in very good shape. Rest of interior with the exception of a few items below is in good shape. Optima Red Top Battery Bad: Radio basically stinks. Heater boxes are shot. Heat Exchangers have pinholes and need to be replaced. I have a good used I was going to put on. Headliner is tired and a bit saggy. Dash must have a crack in it but it has a dash cover that matches the panel. Motor - Here is what I know about the motor. It has 92k miles on it. I bought it knowing it needs some work. It drives fine and I have driven it from NJ and all around town. Compression is all within 10 psi and averages 150 on the first 5 cylinders. Cylinder 6 is at 120. There are 2 head studs broken per my mechanic. Timing chain makes some noise. Local good independent mechanic told me it needs a machined 6th cylinder or a used one, valve grind, gaskets, rings, etc., chain ramps and tensioner kit and it should be OK. Bottom end appears fine and probably is due to mileage. John Walker said the same thing when I talked to him. Granted he hasn't seen it and this was from the diagnosis. Due to the motor issue, which is really the only major issue I have a reduced price and would like to move it quick since I have another in the garage. It will make a very good SC in great shape if you can fix the motor yourself or want to pay for a top end. Even after the top end this car is right in line or under what it would be worth. 7,250 gets it quick. I have it listed on craigslist - Charlottesville, VA under "forsale" as well. Also listed locally on the dorki board. I would prefer to sell it as a whole but if I have buyers for the major parts I would consider parting it. Major parts would be considered: engine, tranny and rolling chassis PM me if you have questions or want more pics or call at 434-227-0075, William. The color is very nice and works well for the era and the chrome trim. Here is the link with pictures: http://www.dorkiphus.net/porsche/showthread.php?t=12927 |
