OT: Porsche Garage Sale and Cookout???

Okay, this is the deal. Rob and I have a garage full of 914, 911, and 912 parts. Everything from motors to those little rubber thingys that hold the targa top down in the rear trunk.

Since I would LOVE to have my garage back...I was thinking that it may be cool to have a cookout (BBQ, dogs, drinks, etc), meet some other enthusiasts, and also hold a Porsche Parts Garage Sale! We live on the river, which in my opinion would be a gorgeous venue to have a cook out/garage sale! Prices would definitely be lowered since we don't have to spend time boxing up and driving to the post office.

And for the enthusisasts that have a spouse that is not into Porsche Garage Sales, downtown Clinton is nothing but antique shops!

I will be posting the date and details tonight. We will be having the cookout/garage sale on July 14th, then try to get enough people together for a Tail of the Dragon ride on Sunday July 15th.

If I could get a head count (even if it is a maybe)...that would be great! the hotel will hold rooms for people wanting to spend the night..but I need a count of who is staying over and what nights.

Sounds great! Let me know if you are definitely bringing your 914. I will tentatively save you a spot for parking. We have special parking set up for people that bring their Porsches! But it is limited.

TOD DRIVE ON JULY 15!
Our plan is to take U.S. 129 (and the Dragon) across to Robbinsville, North Carolina. We plan to eat at the Brushy Mountain Smokehouse and Creamery in Robbinsville. We will return via the Cherohala Skyway to give people an opportunity to sightsee and take pictures.

We will meet at the Walmart parking lot at 9 am in Oak Ridge. We plan on heading out at 9:30 am. Maps and details will be handed out on July 14th at the cookout, and also on July 15th for people that could not make it on Saturday. If you want to meet up down the road on Sunday, email me at 914rrr@comcast.net and I will send you the details. We should be done with the drive by mid afternoon (later for some that want to stop and sightsee).

I will have a digital camera and will be taking photos of the drive to post on the PB board. If you can't bring your Porsche, still come on the drive. It will be a good time! Our Porsche is in for restoration, so I will be bringing the Porsche Support Vehicle (THE BURB!). (Unless my hubby gets the car back in time, or I find another one to buy!)

DON'T FORGET! I still have spaces available if you are bringing your Porsche to the cookout! If you are coming with a group, just give me a count, and your spaces will be reserved. We are planning on having more food, great music, and a lot of fun!

We guess the cookout/garage sale on Sat will end around 6 or 7 pm at the latest. I would think most people will want to get dinner, head home, or go to the hotel around that time.

The countdown continues! We still have spaces left for Porsche parking! So if you can't RSVP, just show up! I want to have an awesome turnout! There are alot of local car clubs that need to see a Porsche Cookout! Their idea of a cookout is sitting around talking about quilting! NOT THEIR CARS! Well, we know different! It is all about the cars! I just bought a '73 914 2.0 that I want to show off! So you need to come for lunch and check it out! The weather is going to be beautiful! If your Porsche is not ready for the road, come anyway! It is a chance to hang with some other enthusiasts, enjoy food and drive, and look over some parts!

We will have Pork BBQ, Slaw, Hot Dogs, Chips, Baked Beans, etc! Cold drinks! There is a bathroom in Rob's garage (mom and I are putting our female touch on it)...YEAAAA! NO PORTA POTTYS!

So definitely make the trip! If we get enough turnout, we will make this an annual summer event!

If I could get a show of hands of who is coming to the cookout and/or TOD drive, I would really appreciate it! I have already had confirmed responses from some of you, as well as responses from other forums/clubs. Thank you!

In regards to the parts sale, if any of you will need to have items shipped, we will accept a personal check as payment.

I think I almost have paypal fixed. Keep your fingers crossed!

Hi Everyone!

Well, tomorrow starts the big weekend! I have gotten a load of RSVPS from other forums, including the PB board!

I just bought a ton of food/drinks! Enough to feed an army!

So mark it on your calendar, and come on out! You don't have to drive your Porsche!

Just a note: this is not a PCA event, but just alot of Porsche enthusiasts getting together to find parts, eat food, see each others cars, and have fun!
