SOLD to Chris Ice: Guys: No plans to use this Side Shifter transaxle anytime soon, it orginal came out of a 914-6 I purchased (very early car #109>came with two gearbox's) been in storage for at least 3-4 years. Turns fine, not leaks, swepco currently and always!. Looking to get $300.00 for it, would prefer to sell it to someone in CA. Shipping is a factor with most looking for a gearbox. Hi Art, Wouldn't the gear box be a tail shifter if it were from a 914/6? Or do you know if the whole tail housing and other related parts were swapped out for the side shifter conversion?

You are correct!
Dan: The gearbox was a tail shifter original; but one of the wrenches at Schneider's also had a 914-6 at the same time. We both had (2) gearboxes, one short (airport style box) and the stock gearbox. I had one tail and then purchased a side shifter short box. He had the same issue, so we exchanged our rear sections so both of us would have two of the same style gearbox. Thus must easier to trade in and out for events. I got two side shifters, and he got two tail shifters; I had already made the change to the side, so for me it was a not brainier. This is the stock box that I found in the car at the time; but that was in a 914-6 when I purchased it. I did think about talking to you about that orange 914-6 with the 3.2 a month or so ago. But I just have to many project in the works to drop that into another car in the garage. I hope someone who will enjoy it purchased it and takes good care of it! Anyway, it's a box that I have had for a long time, don't see my using it anytime soon; along with clear out some of the stuff just sitting. I think it is more than fairly price.

Art, Thank you for clarifying. That is a smoken price! I don't even have a 914 right now and I'm still thinking about it.
If it does not sell, keep me in mind. BTW, The orange 914/6 is on Ebay right now with only two more days left in the auction. My email has been going nuts with people asking questions about the car. I'll PM you the link because I don't want to get your thread off track.
