Porsche 914 engine
Rebuilt 1974 914 engine. This is a rebuilt 1.8 engine still installed in a 74 914. Less than 50 miles since rebuild by previous owner.
This is a turn key complete engine. I drove the car from the purchase point in Charlotte NC to my home and locally for a few miles. I bought car with the intentions of converting it to a 914/6 project. Have all receipts from engine build. Engine has Dual 40 webers, 009 distributor, new Bosch plug wires, alternator, clutch, flywheel and all sheet metal is there with exception of right front corner piece. Engine has a rattle noise at idle and throughout the rpm range. Not sure of the problem but probably needs some dissassembly to trace it down. I also have a video of the engine running available as well. Will sell as complete engine or as a long block only. Local pickup in the Charlotte NC area or will ship as well. What kind of rattle? tinny sound like sheet metal, or rapping like inside the motor...

It sounds like it's coming from the front fan housing and fan hub assembly.
