I believe they are available new. PP may have them. At least one of the pretty glossy catalogs do. But remember our hosts!

I have the tlit and the ring for up and back on a seat that i'm gonna throw away. If you send me a PM, we'll work out shipping. I don't want anything for the part itself.

I sent this guy the part he wanted 3 weeks ago and all I asked was for him to pay me for shipping. Nothing. That's not very grateful is it? Kevin Powers says he's gonna ship me a belly pan. It's been 2 weeks. Nothing. I don't think this is a very good place to buy, sell or trade parts.

Edit: Oh, did I mention the used fiberglass 911 RS bumper I bought? When I got it, it was a *hot part* meaning it was one that was pulled from the mold prematurely and warped before curing. It would be OK for a race car except its a heavy part for glass. I won't sell it here. I will take it to Pomona where the buyer can see what he is getting. Those represent about half of the deals I have made (or attempted to make) here. the other deals went OK.

thanks zeke, so i email you and tell you i had the flu for near a week. did i ask the ammount for this stupid thing that aa would have charged you, $150 in a very old catalog. you did'nt say that you needed it and wanted shipped next day air for heavens sake. so dis me in this forum because a part that you don't even have on your car now isn't there, boo hoo. so if you want this part it is now the old aa price+ shp+ a $25 box fee. how do you like that?

ps it's called a LOWER PROTECTING PLATE, that way you'll know the correct term when you continue your search for this part.

Yeh Kevin, I got that email a week ago. Isn't that the one where you said it was going out last Monday? And you still have it there after originally offering to send it to me on February 8th? Nothing I've read here changes much about how I feel. It's all about if a man says he's gonna do something, then he does it. By getting defensive like that, you simply show your faults. No worries, mate. There will be more available. I'm sure you don't have the last one. Anyone else?

MILTON BECKER, how right you are. thank you so very much much for pointing out my short comings you petulant infant. i hope i can make it through the day. sorry the po was closed on presidents day and that other than a few postings replies here i devoted most of that weekend to working on my car, the fact that you choose to use my name leads me to believe that you had a full load in your diaper. this is not a business. i'm simply trying to pass a few fair deals to other owners. if my timing doesn't fit your busy schedule that's just too bad.

fwiw, now milton has opted to send me emails regarding this matter, as he should have in the first place, chidding me and telling me to "take my licks". obviously his life must be a bit lacking as he thinks this "livens things up". a simple "this is taking to long" would have sufficed. first he states "two weeks and nothing", then "i got your email". odd, he didn't mention the person who stiffed him on the part he sold by name. so lets do the time line. the first week i was ill and told him so, his reply "no worries". he is either a liar or just confused only he truly knows. so subtract 1 week. i spent 3 days under my car that following weekend. after spending the better part of 5 days filling the toilet and the bathtub at the same time. should i have dropped everything everything i was doing, got cleaned up, to ship his part? maybe so. but i chose not to. i was trying to get the white car out of the garage so my wife could have her side back. sorry milton you fall way back in line. back to the time line. oh i forgot the real job. so between tues of last week (the 18th) and sat (the 22nd) the LAST day to ship last week is what, 5 days? so i got off my ass and boxed items for (read made up boxes) for lawrence914, j baker, mike95125, m ramsey, and poor little miltie on sun afternoon. i take moving cartons and cut them down, in the hope that the items arrive intact. guess which 4 went priority mail yest? that all being said, i'll remove my parts threads and just take this stuff to the dump. i certainly do not want to disrupt anyones life by taking any extra time to ship some part on my nickle until they send me the check. not to mention the numerous requests for pictures and the failure of people to let you know what's the verdict. you want perfect mags or parts? go to wheel enhancement or buy new. the fun has been taken out of it. thanks though to those that were a pleasure to deal with, you know who you are. adios. fyi, surface mail takes 7-10 days+ sundays and holidays. priority 2-3, and that's in the lower 48.

Yes, I did reply to his post via email so as to tasefully take this off the board. I guess that didn't work. At least the fallacious ad hominum name calling is absent in the above rant. Man, are this guy's strings a little tight or what? BTW, the "other person" that I "failed to mention" name is, of course, the author of this thread. I guess Kevin failed to notice that in his rage.

Oh, and Mr. Phelan did respond as well, by email, apologetically and very gentlemanly. It seems that he could admit that even though he had some issues to deal with and couldn't seem to find the time to put six bucks in an envelope and send it to me for the favor I did for him, it now seems to be on the way. The difference between these guys is like night and day, one can see the error of his ways and the other becomes violently defensive and cannot refrain himself from displaying his tirade. In addition, I did advise Mr. Powers to stand up and take it like a man, in so many words, but now I think I will simply ask him to shut up.

Lastly, on the subjuect of apologies, I would like to apologize to the members of this BBS including Misters Phelan and Powers for starting this in the first place and subjecting anyone to this drivel. Perhaps I was feeling a a liitle pissy and wearing my emotions on my sleeve when I posted. It's amusing, though, to know how people really feel. Won't happen again.

If the moderator would like to take this thread down or move it, that would be fine with me as this can certainly serve no constructive purpose from this point on.

I feel compelled to respond with words of reality...

The times we live in have turned miles into feet. Months into minutes. And has built friendships on packets of data.

My life, like other 914 owners, is a blurr of missrepresented ebay purchases, empty promises from vendors, and total failure and disappointment of outsourced services. I have too have tried to give extra 914 parts away to try and combat the negative karma that my 914 seems to bring.

(Esspecially one that has not run in 6 months because of a valve problem that I can seem to go away regarless of the $$$ and hours of noodling spent. arrrrrgggg)

Still, technology has made time even more valuable than ever. Getting stuff boxed, labled, delivered to the shipper, probably takes a monumental effort in scheduling, most of us relish an extra hour of down time, so consider this... on our next sorte into 914 karma land...try and understand that if you were standing standing in the garage, shed, parts stash, rather than waiting for "brown"...the part would have been handed to you with a smile and 45 minutes of 914 stories rather than over a white pale blue and gray bulletin board...It just going take longer for it to happen

Poetry. I'll take your comments to heart.

Still, the guy overeacted. The "other guy" was embarassed. Two different people. It was a significant effort, as you say, to find a box, wrap the part and take it to Mail Boxes USA. But I did it the first weekday. And sent the thing out gratis to help out a fellow teener. The agreement was for him to pay mailing costs. I guess it's on it's way now that I've publically complained. I'll tell you one thing, I'm done with this parts horsetrading as soon as I sell the 2.7 and MFI. I don't have the stomach for it. In my business, I have to do ordering, picking up and delivering every day and everyone wants it on time or sooner. I don't live in some kind of slacker world if I want to eat. If people can't meet even half my standards, then screw 'em.

BTW, that's why we all deal with Pelican isn't it? They get the job done like I do. Huray for Pelican!

Edit 2/26: I recieved Phelan's payment to cover the cost of shipping the free part yesterday. The man sent me over three times as much as he needed to. he told me in an email that he was going to " put in a little extra for my patience." Well, his genorosity is to be commended and my criticism is to be held as unwarranted as far as Mr. Phelan is concerned.
