924 Turbo opportunity
Hi I've found a 1980 924 Turbo with a rebuilt engine and turbo, rebuilt about 5000 miles ago. No rust faded paint, needs 1st and 2nd gear syncros and has worn rugs. Same owner for 25 years states it drives great not winter driven originally from California, he wants $1900.00 CDN is it worth jumping in and buying it. My last Porsche was a 944.

Read this about the gearbox first. Parts availability is something to consider.

Somebody recently is offering to make some synchro reproductions for those cars on a limited run basis. You will not find them new anywhere else, as jhowell is mentioning as well.
That seems like a reasonable price, assuming that the interior isn't trashed. The 924 Turbos are even more work in terms of maintenance than 944's, so be prepared for that. When was the last time it was run? The CIS fuel injection setup can be very temperamental, and is intolerant to vacuum leaks. It is very different than your previous 944, so be prepared.

Thanks guys The car runs well, driven often but there's still a lot to consider. Thanks again.
