Dashboard replacement

The PO had a plastic dashboard cover installed and I would like to try to remove it. I have no idea what kind of adhesive was used and I don’t want to damage the original dash.
Any ideas on how to remove the cover ?

I'd guess the underlying dash is cracked already and the cover is masking it. Try looking in the vent holes and see if you can find evidence of cracking at the edges. If so, removing the plastic cover may lead to something more undightly.

These dashes crack - The cover is the least expensive in terms of time and money. I think Dimitri has the right idea. However, don't be surprised to see the condition of the dash.

There are many posts here on dash repair/recover. If you decide to go to a replacement route, this is a very expensive option. Clark's Garage has a very good "how to" remove.

it was most likely applied with a silicone adhesive

Agree the dash is going to be cracked. Then you'll also be dealing with adhesive marks and any damage you do scraping and pulling. If it's cosmetics you're concerned about, you may be looking at the best solution on the car now.

I have a new late model (air bag) dash if interested but it is expensive.
