Question Water temp. jumps when operating seat switch

This sounds like a bad ground somewhere in the instrument cluster panel. Have any of you experienced this phenomenon?

The temp. unit also seems to be very sensitive to minor temperature changes, perhaps the temp. sender is on its way out.

Is the temp. sender/transmitter located in the water pump housing?

Thanking you all in advance

My temp guage jumps up about two needle-widths whenever I have the lights on. When I get home for the summer the first thing I'm going to do is clean the grounds and check the sender.

Not sure where the sender is actually located though.

I think I'll remove my instrument cluster again, 3 minutes, and check for a bad contact. As I remember now, It did get better one time when I removed the cluster and then refitted it.

Hey

remove instrument cluster.

if you look on the back of the cluster, you will see a couple of black rugby ball shaped fittings held on with a nut

remove them and clean them

should take care of the problem

double check the sensor - it is on the block, in the front, right under the coolant return.
