924 missing
My wife has a 78 924. It is missing on #3 cylinder. I have replaced the sparkplugs, plugwires, rotor, distributer cap, checked compression 140 - 152 all cylinders, replaced head gasket, adjusted valve lash, replaced valve seals, machined head, rebuilt distributer, replaced all vacuum hoses, checked fuel distribution, changed oil, air, gas filters, adjusted timing.
4 hours at a garage rechecking all that I did, & they are stumped. Any help or idea's would be greatly appreciated. |

is number 3 sparkplug wet? if not cold be fuel injector. check to see if injector is getting turn when it should. Could be control system. mint try just switching injectors to see if problem moves.

Thanks Jody
I did check all the fuel injectors, none leaking, tested for flow on each one, OK, also did a quantitive fuel test all injectors putting out evenly. I just got done messing with it. I rechecked the timing it was supposedly correct. I readjusted it by ear, NO TIMING MARK NEAR where I set it, I took it out for a spin, It ran great, no missing, no ping, no knock, & fast as I remember. My delema now is I have to make sure it is right, or it won't pass smog as they check the timing marks. |
