1984 944 hood insulation

My hood insulation on my 944 project car is shot. Can I drive the car without it or will it damage the paint on the hood?

Yes you can - You could replace it with a set of pad from Classic 9
http://www.classic9leathershop.com/

There are plenty of posts on how to remove the old insulation. If you chose not to, its ok

Its a very low budget car. Can I run it without the insulation?

Yes, you can. My insulation disintegrated years ago and I merely cleaned it off. I have observed no ill effects as a result of its absence.

Thanks,

I've had 944's with the original insulation in place and many without it and i can honestly say that I did not notice much of a difference in sound or heat transfer with the original foam in place. My current 85.2's insulation has been gone for a long time, likely many years before I purchased it in 2013. I have never noticed any ill effects from not having it.

My 88 924S has never had insulation since I've owned, and there are no signs that it ever did have it.

Hood struts are pretty cheap and easy to replace. Something I wouldn't wait on, haha. The hood isn't light.
