I have an early 944 and need the engine rebuilt. I live in Nova Scotia and all the European car places I've called wont do it!! There are 944s everywhere so someone must do it. Is anyone on here from NS and know of places that rebuild old Porsches?
Thank you!!! C. |

Why don't you try to find a used engine for your car ... the cost of a 2.5 rebuild from a shop will outweigh the value of your car !
They come up often here and on Rennlist , otherwise if you're set on rebuilding your engine you might have to crate it and ship it out.Mantis in Oakville Ontario can rebuild your engine but it would be costly, just out of curiosity , give Ernie a call and ask for an estimate ! Depending on what you need to rebuild on your engine , it's not rocket science but if it's a complete overhaul you need some knowledge and the right tools !

This sounds like a job for Ernie944. He's in Caraquet, NB. I'll PM him and ask if he can point you in the right direction.

I don't think its at the point to refinishing the alusil finish. It was running unsupervised after a drive and blew the head gasket. By the time I got back it was barely running and coolant got into the oil. That was in the fall. I was told there was no point in only rebuilding the head when coolant got into the oil so I ended up pulling the engine. I wanted to rebuild if possible so I know its all new but I might have to buy used. I don't know enough to know how to check if it needs a full rebuild myself but shops are very weary to look at it for me and wont rebuild it.
