Anyone have a fusepanel layout for '83 944?
I'm looking for a listing of which size fuse goes in what position and what that fuse supports. I found something on 944-world website but it's not accurate for mine. Also would like to have a list of the relays near/on the fuse panel and what they're for. If you can provide a picture that would be great. Remember, this is the car with a large and a small panel. The large one has about 15 fuses and several relays, and the small panel has about 8 fuses if I remember correctly. Thanks for the help.

Actually, what he has looks like what I've already seen, and again, I see no mention of a relay for the heater fan/blower, which does exist because I had to replace it for mine to work. My smaller fuse panel which the layout shown by Shaun and 944world does not reside above the large fuse panel as shown, but rather it exist sorta above and to the left (not touching or very close the large one at all) of the larger one. The large one on mine is facing you as you bend down to look at it, but the small one you have to look straight up...you pretty much have to lay on your back and look up to see it.

I have an 83 944 and the 83 944 owner's manual diagram for the fuse/relay panel is identical to the posted image. However, I agree that the actual fuse/relay panel in the 83 944 does not exactly match this example. Don't know where to get an exact match. I wonder if the 84 944 wiring diagrams are sufficient for working on an 83 944. Does anyone know?

My 83's panel doesn't match exactly, either. I found a spare dme relay plugged in where there should be nothing, and another relay going into an alarm system. The spare DME relay's pins were actually connected to stuff, and I'm sorting it all out still.
The 83 wiring does appear a bit different than the 84 diagrams everyone has. I'd give my left spectacle to find full, correct, diagrams for a non-alarmed 83.

One thing to remember. Porsche builds on their shop manuals. In other words, if they have put something in print once, SOMEWHERE, it will not generally be repeated in a later version of a manual, which does include some of the things going from the 924 to the 944 early series. Hence, when you look at the 944 FSM, and ONLY see the fuse charts for the "since '84", thats what your gonna see, since the '83 chart was printed (covered, I should say) once before.........in with the 924 electrical manuals.
Thats why its a real good thing if your gonna really get into these 944's (early models, ESPECIALLY), that ya get your hands on a set of the 924 manuals also. The "engine" manual volume, is, well..........not applicable.........of course........at ALL. If, you can find, and see the 924 electrical manuals, you will find the info your looking for there. I believe its the ones noted as "Location of relays- from 1981 models", for the relay arrangement (page 90-4c), and......."Fuses from 1981 models" for fuse arrangement (page 90-4d). I have the 924 manuals in print only. It shows identical to the fuse/relay layout in my 1983 owner's manual. I've had to do some electrical work on the '83 in the past, and found I NEEDED, the 924 manuals, in order to get the proper circut placement, and the correct wiring colors as I saw in my car, as some of this IS different from whats in the "since '84 models", in the 944 FSM. IF, you can't get or find this, let me know, and I'll list it out according to my manuals here...........manually. Hell, I'm long winded anyway! ![]() Good luck!

The A/C relay is under the kick panel on the passenger side. Who would have guessed.

nope, that was the condensor fan relay. 1 step away from having everything operational for the first time since 1991!
