Caliper Colors

I am working on restoring / re-habbing a 1988 944S.
After clean up it looks like the front calipers were CAD plated while the rears were silver zinc. Is that correct?

The colors do not necessarily indicate what plating process was used. The color of both cadmium and zinc plating is added after the electroplating process is complete.

Not sure what Porsche used for plating across the years. I do know that cadmium has fallen to the wayside due to it's toxicity. It's still used in aerospace applications because that's what was specified so many years ago and to re-write specs is a major PITA.

That being said, PMB has become somewhat of the expert on brake calipers, I'm sure they'd know.
