Angry This Sucks!!!!

I can't believe what I just found out. After spending all of that money (4800) to get the car reliable. Right after I get back from my trip to Georgia I notice my car blowing out alittle blue smoke. Well, I thought it was gas and my car was running rich. Well, I found out Friday that black smoke is gas and blue smoke is oil! So, here I am with over $10,000 invested in a car that blows blue smoke. This sucks. I'm going tomarrow and getting a '00 Navy Blue Metallic Z28. So I'm not sure to part out my Porsche or wait and see about maybe building it up or just fixing it. I'm not sure, what do you all think? By the way it's going early this week to see just what is causing it, cause it may not be that bad. I'm gonna hate to see it go.

how many miles are on it??? Something tells me a set of valve seals will fix your problem real nicely. AND if that doesn't get it done rings would be my next guess.

WHAT DID YOU SPEND THE 4800 ON? IF IT WAS THE ENGINE, IT MAY NOT YET BE SEATED IN, OR MAYBE THICKER OIL WOULD HELP. maybe its just the clouds we have up here at the lake blowing aound down there? maybe its just the smoke from the weekend at party cove?maybe, maybe, maybe........my backup is an 89 iroc, t tops, 350 tpi, anyone got a computer for it???

Go buy the Z28 and sell the 944.

Then you join over 100,000 other year 2000 Z28 owners.

I'll stay with a car that less than 15,000 were made for that year.

I also accept that my 944 is not a dragster and that stainless steel fuel lines and quick response throttle cams will not make it one.

Although a cop ticketed me for over 80 mph in less than a quarter mile from a dead stop! No it's not a turbo. Doesn't know how to use a radar gun.

Porsche85, if you're close let me take a look at it before you bail on the poor thing. sounds like you have too much invested, to let it go know. Also, $4,800, on what?

Oh, my god, got the greatest news ever today. I took it to my mechanic and it wouldn't blow the smoke for him. He took the intake boot off and guess what? Oil! He said that there is a hose that runs from where you put oil in it to the intake boot and if it gets clogged or something that it would let oil in there causing the blue smoke. THANK GOD!!!!! Looks like I'm gonna get to keep her. Oh, and the $4800. where do I start, belts, hoses, gaskets, the mods I have listed, misc. interior pieces, labor, seals, and other stuff I can't think of right now. I have the reciepts to show all of it, just don't fell like typing it all. SoCal, I also know that my car is not a "dragster", but it's still not that slow. It's just that me, my family and friends are into it, so I want something to run down the track too. Looks like I'm gonna have a drag racer and a road course racer. So, glad I get to keep her.

There is another way for oil to get into the intake.

The oil filler is sealed to the engine block with O-Rings, one near the top and one near the bottom. Over time these O-rings will leak. When that happens excessive amounts of oil can be drawn into the intake boot and you get blue smoke.

New O-rings will run you about $11.00 each at a dealer. The O-Rings are two different sizes, so make sure you get one of each.

You will also need a set of intake manifold gaskets, and 4 injector O-Ring kits.

To replace the oil filler O-rings you need to pull the fuel rail and the intake manifold. Once those are out of the way you can pull the oil filler and replace the O-Rings.

I think they got replaced when the oil cooler seals were replaced. I also had to order a new intake boot this morning too. It was soaked with oil. I accidentaly ripped it pretty bad and now it won't idle. I put one of those K&N look little filters on that tube and plugged the hole in the boot and it didn't smoke (except out of the filter) but then the hot glue that I used (just to see if it would work) to hold the lip that ripped off some other tube underneath came out and it died. So, I have to wait until tomarrow to make sure it's fixed. I'm still going to get the Z-28, but I'm glad I don't have to get rid of my car. Sorry TSNAPCRACKLEPOP don't know where you can get a computer for it. I know more about german engineering than I do american.........it's kinda sad huh.
