Early 944 heater control valve part #
Which part # is the heater control valve for an early 944 84? Pelican has two part numbers and I’m not sure. Noon question

the other one has a vacuum line, which is used on the oval dash cars.

Yeah I figured it was this one but since Pelican was saying both fits my 84 I was lost. Plus looking at the heater control valve in person, I thought maybe the other half broke off lol. Thank you for clearing it up for me

Have you called Pelican parts? They have been extremely helpful to me when I call. You can view schematics with them to help figure out all the oddities of 944 parts.

much nicer to use the original part and the price isnt; so bad..
I have seen some that are temperature compensated valves , replaced by a regular plumbing tap.. some have a thermocouple.. it means you have a tap to turn rather than a dashboard slider.. definitely a bit "rough" but in a pinch one of these can control water flow. that is , if this thing is controlling water flow to the heater core.. I would definitely go ahead and get the right part. no question.. i only mentioned it because this trick might work if you are working on a car where they are obsolete or weird shaped or maybe its just a just a winter beater or cash is a problem and you are stuck.. how well or if it would fit in this location is another thing i dont know.. it can often be re-located in the engine compartment where the heater hose is easy to reach... awkward, yes but maybe if the car's valve leaks and you just need to bide time , it's an option, although definitely a kludge ! https://www.plumbshop.ca/products/watersupply/watersupply-valves/straight-valve-1-2-fip/ |

I have this one on my 968 engine. I would talk to 928motorsport and see if it's compatible with early 944. IIRC they're all the same and they were used on the 928, 968, and even found their way onto the 986.
https://928motorsports.com/product/replacement-heater-valve/ I did have one of the plastic types split in half on me on a drive once on my 944 engine. Never again.

There's no aftermarket part for the early style valve. The best price will be direct from a porsche dealer. I took off the intake manifold to get to mine.
