Opinions regarding OER & Brombacher / Dansk Motor Mounts?

I have a 1988 Porsche 924s that needs new motor mounts. Anybody familiar with OER motor mounts, where they are made? Quality? Also, anybody familiar with Brombacher / Dansk motor mounts? I called company, they told me they are made by Dansk, made in Denmark. They are both reasonably priced. The Porsche OEM motor mounts are insanely expensive at $459.99 each. Where are the darn Porsche OEM motor mounts made? Geez. Ger.

I am running Meyle mounts and have not had any problems and I dont think OEM mounts are worth it, personally. Others will strongly disagree with this statement.

For me if the cheap mounts were to fail the work involved to replace is minimal. The thought being I could replace the cheap ones 10x over before they would pay for the price of OEM, and since I only put on a couple thousand miles per year, they are likely not going to wear out for years. I have a manual rack (although even a power rack isnt that much extra work) and dropping the subframe to replace the mounts is extremely easy. I also do all my own work, so labor is free of course. Maybe I am just lucky but the Mayle mounts havent let me down yet after 4 years, and probably 10k miles. I think I paid like $120 for the set.

Your mileage may vary, and if you are paying someone else to do the work, you may want to consider OEM mounts.

The Brombacher / Dansk motor mounts are not hydraulic, but solid rubber). The liquid inside 924/944/968 mounts lessens vibrations better, than solid rubber.
I've not experience with Brombacher / Dansk motor mounts.

I had mounts replaced on my ‘83 944. The independent Porsche shop said they wouldn’t guarantee anything except OEM mounts. I bit the bullet. I probably wouldn’t know the difference, but my engine has NO vibrations and runs as smooth as butter with OEM.

Do not use aftermarket Mounts!! I installed Hamburg Technic in my '84 944, they lasted about 100 miles. Thought it was rough idling due to improper adjustment of throttle screw after I cleaned/rebuilt Throttle Body. My mechanic (Dan at Exotic Motorwerks in Scottsdale; legit and worth it) set it up correctly and told me it's absolutely the cheap Mounts.
I will be re-replacing with OEM next weekend. Not for nothing, I ordered them through local Porsche dealer that is Classic Partner and they gave me 10% off.
All the blogs and vids say to not cheap-out on the Engine Mounts, they are correct!! To the few that don't have issues, I'm happy for you but it's only a matter of time.

At one time Rein made the OEM Porsche motor mounts. They were made in Germany. They are no longer available from Rein.

What you need to be concerned with is if the Dansk mounts are hydraulic or solid rubber. If they are cheap they are probably solid. Some find the vibrations of solid mounts to be acceptable. Others, not so much.

As for OEM, there is an online dealer (rhymes with Belaware) that has them on sale for $335 each. Part number 951.375.042.04. Still not cheap but cheaper.

I put Meyle mounts in my car a few years ago. The mounts were given to me for free and at the time I didn't know that aftermarket mounts had a bad reputation.

Happily, they have been fine, so far. I have put a lot of miles on the car.

Your perception of the aftermarket solid rubber mounts will likely depend a lot on how you use the car and what you expect out of it.

If you are a track guy or mostly get into your car to drive it hard, you're much less likely to feel the increased vibrations of solid rubber than if you use it as a weekend driver around town and spend a lot of time at idle (where the vibrations are most pronounced).

All that is to say, there are valid arguments for both approaches (OE hydraulic and aftermarket rubber), so question your expectations before you go in so you don't end up doing the job twice.

Just my two cents.
