Holy **** you guys are ****ing douche bags, seriously now can someone just help me out here or are you all lame?
|
Here is my post again, for those who want to help, Thanks!
I was thinking of getting a 924 turbo as a project car and was wondering what the engine specs are stock, just displacement, hp, etc. Also does it use the same turbo as the Audi's of the same years? As far as upgrades, I think the turbo is a good size to run 12psi (just under 1.0 bar) as a daily driver but what can I do about fuel? I am hoping to find one with a bad engine so I can pick it up cheap, what other motors directly swap into this car if any? Thanks in advance! |
Look, I along with a lot of other people here can help you. I don't care about what you want to put down for your location, I don't really even care what you post. When somebody complains, I do something about it.
I do have to say though, how can you expect any help if you're calling us names? What's asked of you is a simple request, and a reasonable one. Here's my shot at trying to keep this easy to understand: Comply or leave, now. Ahmet |
Yup, what Ahmet says.
|
hmm, sounds Orwellian. "you will comply, or you will be deleted" :D
appropriate nevertheless |
|
a 924 Turbo with a "bad engine" probably isn't worth the time and effort, and just to warn you, the car is NOT a drag racer. I don't mean to pre-judge you, but usually people asking about HP are disappointed with these cars' straight-line performance...

Dude- I say go for it! While the engine is apart, install a NOS kit too. My friend did this, and his car pulls 12s in the quarter now! There's a company on ebay selling resistors for $20, and when you hook it up it gives like another 30-40 hp. Also, ditch the lame 15 inch wheels, sell them to someone here for like $50 (all they are worth) and put 19s on it. It will handle much better. Drop the clutch at about 6000, thats what my buddy says gets the best time out of the hole. And the best place to drill for an amp is right in the middle of the trunk floor. Use long screws, otherwise it can come loose with all the Gs you can pull with it. Finally, screw expensive paint shops. Maaco will hook you up with Ambassador service for $200!
You're right though, dudes here don't get it. |
hahahahahahahahahaha
yeah, rammstein's got the right idea! while you're at it, there's this thing called SpiralMax that you put in your air induction system... it creates a TORNADO inside your induction! That's got to be good for, like, 40 hp, right? |
Yeh, these guys are really a bunch of stuffed shirts. I don't think any of them actually work on there own cars anyway..
Why not just sell one of them the turbo engine, swap it for a quick vw golf one and just hook this up http://www.takakaira.com/accessories/nightpager/nightpager.html Lot less trouble, same results....... Ps. Hey I was wondering where my mom was, could you tell her to call home every once in a while? |
PLONK!
|
BTW. these engines suck used and usually only get $300-400 complete. List it over on the Used parts forum on this site.

Serioulsy now, I found a 924 Turbo that needs some engine work for $950. If someone who knows what their talking about could answer the simple questions I posted that would be cool, Thanks. |
Ya know, bagger, insulting everyone on this board is not a good way to go about getting someone to answer your questions. My suggestion, humbly apologize or change your screen name and pretend you are someone new with the same question. Really now, if you saw some of these guys face to face I seriously doubt that you would say "Holy **** you guys are ****ing douche bags, seriously now can someone just help me out here or are you all lame?" Or at least you wouldn't say it more than once.

And grow up. That's right, the youngest kid on the board is telling him to grow up! |
now that's what I call a sound thrashing (whew)
|
I have the answer but after insulting everyone, and my mom is dead by the way!.......... I will let you figure it out on your own!

Teabag,
I don't know what you put on your profile, but you can't start off insulting folks & expect them to help you. It depends on what the motor problems are if you should get it or not. If it is injection, the fuel distrutor & warmup regulator could run a couple of hundred each. The injectors are about half the cost of the 944 injectors. Ignition wise, The cap & rotor button are about $20. The CD unit on early models can be replaced with an MSD or equiv box. If you have the late model, the DIC box is NLA. Inside motor stuff - A timing belt is cheap & easy compared to a 944, but a broke one means bent valves. SI valves gets about $180 for a ss set. The cams where out and this is $300-$400, pluss new lifters at $50-$60 each. If cyl bores are worn, JE pistons at $625 are about as cheap as Porsche. Main & insert bearings are cheap, but you'll find out there are no HP replacement rod bolts & stock takes a long time to get. A clutch, PP, & throwout bearing costs around $450, with Carrera GT about $650, and is just as hard to change as 944. If turbo is bad, thats about$400 for a rebuild. The $100 turbo rebuild kit can end up costing you a pro rebuild if you bend the shaft like I did. 12 PSI boost is awful high without an intercooler, stock can run hot on 7.5 PSI when run hard on a hot day. I don't know of a 12PSI wastegate spring, but the 15PSI sold for a 930 will work. You might want head studs & O ringed block on high boost. Racewear studs about $150 & Isky Oring tool about $300. As you see you can spend some money if you have to go deep, & spend a lot of your time. I'm ignorant to all of your insults except calling everybody a ******bag. Now I've answered your question & maybe you ought to eat your words & apologize to everybody. drew1 edit: 2 liter, 143 HP, You could do some swapping with different K26compressors but the 3 hole bolt pattern on the turbine is kind of 924, as far as I know. Do a search & look at 924.org for mototors that will swap. |
"Serioulsy now, I found a 924 Turbo that needs some engine work for $950. "
Seriously, it probably isn't worth it. The Turbo'd engines are a lot more of a hassle to work on, and 924s aren't exactly worth too much money if they have a lot of problems (not that 944s ARE, but you know what I'm saying). $900 seems like a lot for a 924 that has engine problems. I've seen GOOD examples of 924s go for $1200. I say save up for a couple months and buy a nice example early 944 for $3500 or so... it will be faster and more reliable than a 924 Turbo anyhow. |
