Any Ideas on what to do about this?
Heat has totally destroyed the plastic. One is obvious, the other is about the same under the electrical tape. I removed the tape and it crumbled in my hands. Don't want to replace the sensors just yet because they work fine. The wiring harness is in good shape so I dont want to solder them together. I have an idea but ... What would you do???

My plugs were broken too, but the sensors weren't working either. Those plugs might be fairly hard to locate. You might have to find a parts car to take the plugs off of to replace them.

You could use the filled "potting" epoxy used on electronics. Dark gray color. Have to make a mould around the plugs.

Epoxy's a good idea! BTW, isn't that your O2 sensor connector?

The epoxy works great.....
There is also a rubberized electrical tape liquid. Works nicely to give it a black rubber finish.

should you not be able to get a replacement from the dealer, you could look for a similar plug with the same number of pins at a decent electronics store (i.e. not Ratshack) that would make for a clean (and probably safest) repair

Go down the junkyard and get a couple of sensors with the same plugs.
Cut the plugs off and solder the wires into your harness. All late (83-89) BMW 5 and 6 series use the same sensor, but with a longer wire.
