Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but you
still can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs.

not sure about that but I don't think so as Porsche has always taken pride in the fact that you can get your car personalized from the factory almost any way you like

no no no no no

The 944 Turbo (951) was a 217hp 2.5 liter engine, until the 944 Turbo S (type 952) came out. That used the same engine, but developed 247hp. The Turbo S was produced for one year, after which it was rebadged as a 'normal' 944 Turbo (ie 951).

Special editions of the 944 Turbo S were available with silver rose paint job, weird trippy interior color schemes, and an optional 'turbo' script on the front fenders. These 'silver rose' cars are known esoterically as 944 Turbo SEs.

The cars that had the 3.0 liter engines were the 944 S2s, and, later, the 968s.

Well, the Turbo S, while having the same engine, does have a different turbocharger right?

Yeah, the Turbo S and 89 turbos have the K26/8 turbo, 86-88 non-S models have the K26/6.

We've mentioned it before, but I really recommend Peter Morgan's book "The original 924/944/968". It has a lot of information about these cars. It's not the only book you'll ever need, but it's a good place to start.

I agree that is one of the best. However, here's a link to a few alternatives:

Forgot to mention that Clark Fletcher has excellent reading material on the 951 at this site:
