Carfax help......please.
Does anyone have access to a carfax account? I will explain: I have this 99 VR4 with a blown engine and recently purchased a used engine from a salvage yard, they claim the used engine is from a 97 with 50,000 miles. Well it looks a little dirty for a 50k motor so I looked around on the block and found a vin#, punch the number into the Asian scan tool and it comes up as a 95. So I am thinking if they were off on the year they may also be off on the mileage. I'm hoping that a Carfax will show the actual mileage of the vehicle when wrecked or whatever happened to it. The vin #: JA3AN74K9SY005257. And just to stay on topic of course I like my Porsche much better..

Well the engine trans and "most" of the plumbing went in today. I hope it runs!!! Anybody want to buy a 99 VR4..

I looked it up on Carfax, and you are right, they underreported the mileage to you. Here is what I found and the most recent mileage reported.
ALERT! This 1995 MITSUBISHI 3000 GT VR4 (JA3AN74K9SY005257) has had a severe accident or total loss event(s) reported to CARFAX from a Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). 06/13/2003 89,954 Best of luck with it!
