(Using 10-40 right now, and it's leaking a little... Maybe from the bolt.) - How often should it be changed? (I know it was previously posted, and I read said post, but does anyone have any further info?) - Any recommended additives? Well thanks for your time. Drive safe all. Bye.

I recommend one Haynes manual for Porsche 944. Available at most parts stores!
I know because I have one sitting on my desk at work, and that is why I can’t actually answer your question! Perhaps someday I’ll actually memorize the entire thing!

I've read it... BUT I am asking for users experience.
As in what they recommend, what's they've used, and what works the best. Thanks for your time.

Depends on what your doing, at 85 deg, and on the track 10W 30 Mobile #1 is too thin. So then you need 20W/50 so it lubes better. Winter time daily driver use the 10W 30 or 40, the syns tend to run a bit thinner when they are hot,

hey ldl,
ok a cuple of things generally you can not go wrong with what is recommended by either Porsche (manual/drivers manual/haynes etc) or your dealer. Deviation is at owners own risk ! However saying that, when the 44 was made oil technology was a lot different as is the service intervals. so a few points 1: oil changes are somewhat dependant on use of car, racing, street use, garage queen 2: You can NEVER over do the ammount of oil changes you do, as long as it is a MINIMUM of 12000 miles/yearly. I know some ppl recommened every 3000miles, I do mine every 6k. 3: Oil is not only a lubricant it contains bits a pieces of metal etc. from use, so getting rid of this crap, helps to prevent wear and tear. 4: There is also a proper procedure to do an Oil change, which a "main dealer" would not confirm, but engineers in the know swear by. (Posted on TiPEC and NotJustPorsche Boards) 5: oil types: I think when "16" gets a service its done with Mobil1 (whatever that is) recently I have used Shell Helix+ which is a slighly viscous oil. 6: Your drivers manual will give you a list of oil specs for your car and will then say "contact your dealer for recommendations) helix+ and mobil1 comes under thoes specs. I think either NotJustPorsche/Tipec or my own site has a tech FAQ with recommended oil types. Hope this helps Adrian (BTW your right, it helps to get input from real world members as opposed to documentation, but not always)

I was first using 20-50. Then I changed to 10-40 but my oil pressure was too low and I panicked. So I changed back to 20-50. I'm at about 144,000 miles right now but I have only put somewhere in the neighborhood of 24,000 miles on it. I usually change my oil around 4,000 miles. I use Castrol. I've used Exxon once.

20-50 here. It never gets cold enough in California to require a lower viscosity oil. Unless you plan on doing most of your driving in cooler weather (early morning/late night) or plan on driving short distances, I'd use 20-50. Likewise, if you're doing most of your driving in cooler weather or on short distances (it will take the oil longer to heat up and really do its job in either case), go for the 10-40. I personally use Castrol (stuff in the green bottle) and I find the synthetic blends are too thin (a leak started where it wasn't before
). Change it at least every 3k miles! Your engine will last longer with less wear and tear.

Kendall GT-1 20-50. The car sees the track fairly often, and is driven pretty hard.
My hot-rodded 911 autocrosser uses the same. |

I also run Mobil 1 15W-50 synth. But I do track my car, hence the need for a little thicker oil.
