front end sheetmetal question
hey i was wondering why on my front end the fenders and bumper and valance panel are all one piece? i havent seen anyone elses like that and my drivers side fender is quite dented and i want to replace it. but i might be cheaper than buying the whole piece. and it is alluminum or steel not fiberglass.

Hmmm,
Do you have a pic? It sounds strange, as all the lit and specs I've seen clearly show the fenders as seperate pieces from the above bumber header piece. It could be a PO had an unfortunate event and he or a shop bondo'd it all smooth. Louie

no no its not bondoed smooth, this i know because as my signature says i have a very large dent along the drivers side of my car. this dent goes from end to end. if it was bondoed it would have cracked where it was bondoed. plus i looked at the inside of the passanger side fender and it is all just one piece, no weld or anything.

The front end of all 924S models consist of the left and right fender, upper nose panel, bumper and lower valance. These are all seperate steel panels. If yours is one piece someone's been there before. Well after Porsche AG, anyway.

Just finished replacing the complete front end (ran under the rear of a Rodeo/SUV), facial panel the right front Fender (944na). The fender well, facial panel, front valance, and fender are seperate pieces, take another closer look and inspection. when you remove the fender, the wheel well remains on the car.

They are NOT one piece. Look at the pictures of the car's sale page you posted.
Looks like right and left fenders, hood, nose section, bumper and valance/spoiler to me.

A GOOD shop would have possibly welded the seams instead of bondoing. Makes no sense as to why they would have done the whole car...unless a lowrider owned it

A GOOD shop would have rebuilt as the factory did.

well those pics were BEFORE i got cut off by one of our fellow SUV drivers and nailed a guardrail at 40mph.... and ive checked quite a few time.... ITS ONE PIECE! i looked at the pics too and it does look like its separate but its not. thats where it should separate but it doesnt...

The pieces are all seperate from the factory. So someone has either welded them together or aliens from the planet Zog built your car.
The front upper nose panel (the one with the "Porsche" badge on it) is held on by sheet metal screws. The fenders are bolted to the inner wheelhouse and the "A" post. The lower valance (with the grille piece) is bolted to the fenders. The bumper fits in there somewhere.

On the model year 1986 the panel (944 503 033 02) was changed on the 944 and 924S so that panel could be unscrewed. This was done to rationalise the front end for the new Turbo (where the intercooler is under the front panel, although the Turbo/S2 use a different part number)
When you buy a new panel it is designed to be bolted in, it includes the side plate.

yes the nose panel is seperated, what i went is connected are the fenders and the valance panel... sorry for the confusion

So the body shop welded your fenders to the front spoiler? Both sides??

wow, thought this one was dead... well im guessing, yes i know the front end has been replaced and the fenders and valance panel are one piece. ive checked this many times. im guessing that it is welded together but i dont see any marks on the inside where it was welded. could they have ground this down not to show the welds? on the outside there is a 'line' where the fender should be separate, like a creese on the wrong side sorta but it looks like its supposed to be that way. i know it isnt bondo because the guard rail that hopped out in front of my hit it right in that spot. the fender and valance panel did not separate just bent inward. the fenders are connected on both sides.
