Supras have been proven to handle 795whp on a stock bottom end. They are truly sick cars. I spent last weekend running around in my friends. I will own one someday, and when I do I will have a huge on my face everytime I drive it.

Edit: it may be 695whp, but either way the bottom ends are practically bulletproof.

Porsche may not have built any 944s, 924s or 928s that exceed the performance of a 911 but they did build a 968 turbo. That supposedly did 4.5 to 60.....thats viper times from a stock 4 cylinder engine. I read that they stopped making it because it out performed 911s but cost less.

mad, it may have been a different video of the same car & technichians. it was the trd japanese team but it was driven by i think a german. he loved the car, and was a bit surprised of the performance.

justin, the mkiii's were 1986-1992. i think the mkiv's were introduced as 1994 model year in mid-1993. the mkiv's are twin turbo, 320 hp stock. the mkiii's are 232 hp stock, but are upgradeable. and to boot, they are very inexpensive. you can get an '87 turbo for around $4k in good condition. as they are a bit heavy, the older ones don't handle nearly as well as your 944, but the power is cool.

andre, that's superior water-cooled porsche for ya.

I just found out that there WERE Porsche 944 TWIN turbos. There is an interview in Pano this month with a guy who has worked in the Porsche turbo program for 15 years. He claims that there was development done to try to perfect a 944 twin turbo. Unfortunately, they never overcame the problems and expense, so none were ever in production. Now, whether or not a few prototypes slipped out of the factory, we'll probably never know.
