Front End Bras, Like em , hate em, use em, dont?

Im torn. Such a crime to cover up that beautiful front end of my 86 944, but breaks my heart to get her a nicked up.

Anyone use a front end bra?

Wish i could find a red one to match my car, rather than that black or carbon fiber.

Id like to know your opinions.

Dave

Did (PP) Wayne send you that tech-mail about bras? The thing that gets me is the remove-when-wet part. Major pain. I would wait until the front is chipped up, then install the bra 24/7. I had one on a Scirocco. They will wear the paint at the corners. But it covered more damage than it caused.

personally, I don't like em. I think they tend to do more damage than they protect. In order for them to work, you have to use em all the time. Any dirt under the bra ends up getting ground into the paint.

Plus the fact, there's something wrong about putting a "bra" on a car. Just because the make em, does not mean they should be used. There are many examples of things manufactured for your car, such as the turbine device you insert into your intake runner, including the much touted K&N air cleaners, ha ha, but it does not mean you should use them.

When I got my 944 years ago, it came with a bra. You know, I never ever once was compelled to even see if the darn thing fit on the car.

My opinion?

In order to protect the car from looking slightly ugly a few years from now, I will make the car look REALLY ugly from now on.

A few rock chips are not noticable from a few feet away. A bra looks silly from a few blocks away.

They go great with a Mullet.
1.) Posche owners and the BRA.
Put on your Izod polo shirt, then your docker pants, then your argyle socks, blow dry your hair, apply your fake Rolex, have your bra installed by a porsche mechanic, then go pick up young girls at the mall.

2.) Camaro/Firebird/Mustang owners and the BRA.
Blow dry the front of your hair only, let the back do what it wants, put on your white hightop socks, put on your acid washed jeans.. the ones with a million holes in them that your mom washed for you, put your white Reebok hightops on, then put your wife beater on, put your Judas priest neckless on, forget to put your watch on (again) put your feather earing in your left ear, check your mullet again, borrow money from your sister because your mom said no three times already, check your hair again, go out front put your bra on (and get the back of your clothes dirty and not get changed again), then go to the middle school and pick up your girlfriend so you can both celebrate your 29th birthday at her house, because her parents aren't home!!..

I suck don't I?

The best alternitive I've seen is this

http://www.clearbra.net/home2.html

I've seen this done of ferrari's Porsches, BMWs etc.

Also if you want to see an 88' 951 with a bra to see the looks, here was my old one with an official Porsche bra (had porsche emblem).

Oh, O.K. did you upgrade to the turbo sway bar? It is bigger, which will (obviously) add more rigity to the rear Latteraly.

I have to say, we don't have these things in the UK. The closest thing we do have is little jackets for little dogs to stop them getting cold (owners seem to be oblivious to the fact that dogs wear an all weather fur coat!)

The 'car bra' does seem to me to be the single most ridiculous thing I've ever seen.

In fact I can't beleive someone with enough taste to own a porsche is even enquiring about such an offensive article.

Is this a wind up?

I think the clear bra would be best.

The important thing, is finding one that doesn't show edges (especially for a black car), won't turn yellow, and has a lifetime warranty. I am considering getting one myself...the problem is that I don't know where to find one with a lifetime warranty.

Anybody know of any places that offer lifetime warranties???
