Unhappy fuel guage doesn't register

This is pretty much a MUST FIX SOON thing. My fuel guage registers empty and it is filled full of gas. Where should I start looking on trying to fix this part. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

it's most likely your fuel sending unit located inside the gas tank. i believe it is pretty easy for you to check, there are plenty of posts on the subject...do a search and you will get step-by-step instructions. i had my mechanic do mine and it wasn't cheap, but if you do it yourself it's not so bad.

What did you end up using to clean up the tank? Maybe the same thing that was gumming up your tank is gumming up you sender. Take the sender out and put a multimeter to it.

thanks guys that worked...i took out the sender and sprayed it down, inside and out, with carborator cleaner. The guage works like a charm...i do think the same stuff that gummed up the strainer was gumming up the sender! thanks again for the help!
