Intake boot in pieces

Well I got some intake / throttle body cleaner spray.

So, yesterday I figured just take off the boot and spray some in the throttle body.

Easier said than done. That boot has all kind of clamped hoses etc... well, in muscling it off, the fawkin thing fell apart.. DOH !!!!!

Got a new one on the way overnight.

I tried to run it with everything off.... talk about rough pinging... I just hope I didn't mess anything up.

Does anyone have any pointers etc in the intake area that I should address while I'm there ????

Yes.

If that hose was that deteriorated you will have a whole slew of vacuum hoses that need to be replaced as well. This car relies heavily on the vacuum system.

Leaks can cause all sorts of disturbing symptoms. If you don't want to replace some of the hoses at least make sure they are tight on the connector. If not...zip tie it for now and replace later.

Welcome to the board.

Thanks, Willl check as well.

Are most of the hoses a standard size ( I.D. / O.D. ) ???

If so, maybe I should just get a slew of hose and replace ????

Yeah, It was ( Shall we say ) " Real Rough ".

Well, Just got in the new OEM Boot, gonna put it on now.

I checked all the lines and they seem fine.
I Duct taped the 1/2 inch gap in the boot yesterday and ran it. Seems better with the gunk off the throttle body, But didn't want to risk loosing the seal around the tape so I didn't stress it too hard.

Thanks for all the input guys

Don

uhmmm you realize that the AFM must be connected to the intake with no leaks.... hence the rough running.

It definitely should run better with out that HUGE leak in the intake..... :) I am surprised it even ran. LOLOL
