well i finally got my timing belt done, i get to pick the car up tomorrow. the down side is that i found out that my a/c compressor is bad and also that 2 powersteering lines the pump and rack need to be replaced... that sucks... oh well.

How much did you pay for your T-Belt job?
It isn't to hard to replace the powersteering lines and you can rebuild the pump and rack yourself if you have a jack, jackstands, some wrenches, and patience. Goodluck

I can see having to buy a rebuilt pump but you can do the hoses and rebuild the rack.

Hmm, buying a rebuilt pump? When I rebuilt my rack, I ordered a pump rebuild kit, because I knew it was going to go next. When I was asking about the difficulty, I was told any idiot can rebuild a pump, but it takes dedication and lots of time to rebuild a rack. He was right about the rack, took me well over a full weekend of cleaning things! However I have not done the pump yet, looking at the kit, I think it would take about 2 hours, so you're probably better off rebuilding it yourself, for about 20-30 bucks, much cheaper =), and if you're doing the pump, you might as well do the hoses and rack yourself.

I'm thinking of the bushings/bearings. If the shaft is worn out you can't rebuild the pump. Not much to wear out in the steering rack.
