Hey guys!
I'm thinking at getting a sub for my 944. I'm looking at the Infinity BassLink. It's an all-in-one bass system with a 10 inch cone and a 200 watt class D amp (whatever that means). I like it because of its size (I need the space for my movie gear) and it's price is pretty good. 279.95$ at sounddomain.com (retail 500$) Now my friend says that it's not going to provide the direct, quick hitting bass that I'm looking for, instead I should get a box system with an external amp. I'm also wondering how it's all going to sound with that big ass glass hatch... Anyway, I need help making up my mind. What have you guys done to enhance your listening pleasure in your 944s? I'm not looking for a system that is super loud, I don't really care if others can hear my system from a block away. I value quality over quanity. Thanks for any help you guys can provide! -Tony '84 944 n/a |

Trade you a 12" Fosgate sub and punch amp for a good used motor. I have a system in mine and the car does not move!

You can be ghetto like some of our other members and put the boxed subs in your back seat. Another idea if you are up to it is to mount them in the back in the wheel wells. It'd take a little wood work but would leave you some space. Over all I prefer the sound of set of boxed subs and a decent amp behind them. a single 10 is kind of weak, and so is a 200 watt amp. For the same money you could get some decent subs and a decent amp.

I bought a jensen bass tube for $60 and an 80 watt amp for $30 at walmart. That is just as good as any other stuff, even though prices make you think the other stuff is alot better. Well, mine sounds great, and it is all the low end that I need. I also got a set of dome tweeters there for $30, so I have a better high and low range. I would really think about the inexpensive way to do it. Nobody can REALLY hear the difference.

Sounds good idopps, I got my system for around $10 more than you. Mine consists of two bumper 10 inch subs (maxing at 525 watts each), an MTX blue thunder pro 725 (I think that's it, I forgot the number
). With my blau head it sounds awesome. I don't listen to rap much, but the degree of clarity it pumps even with rap in is amazing. It can take my friends 18 inch earthquake with a better amp behind it.

Just call me the traditionalist - got a decent sony CD player (nobody sells blaupunkt around here - and the red lighting from the radio matched my interior) and 4 good 4X6M speakers. Then I got some Dynamat to line inside the door panels and under the console(kills a lot of the engine noise and a good deal of the heat from the exaust system).
With as small as the car is - do you REALLY need a box in the back? Never mind the ugly habit the back glass has about popping its seal and leaking water all over that nice expensive audio equipment. Sorry - just old fashoned I guess AFJuvat |

I have a pair of 10" in a box in the back. JVC punch. xs2500 powering them with 500w at 4ohm, bridged. I took out the top part of my back seat so that i could slide them further in, dont take up THAT much space. Plus if you wanna save space, put em in the wheel well or if you dont wanna lose the spare put em in the little side compartments. Its more work but it has a cleaner look, i have not totally secured the amp yet but i'm thinking of putting it into the passanger footwell, under the glove compartment so that it doesn't take put room.

I cant remember where I saw it but someone posted details about how the put a 10"(I think) IN the spare. They lined the inside of the spare with aluminum foil them got some fiberglass that you can mold and molded it into the spare so it contoured perfectly. Let the fiberglass harden and I guess the foil prevents it from sticking to the spare but its not too loose. Then they took out the fiberglass drilled holes in the back for wires then placed i piece of plywood across the face (I assume they left a lip with the fiberglass) attached the wood to the fiberglass and put the speaker right into the "box". Like I said I saw this somewhere online cant remember where but again I am assuming that the fiberglass was pretty snug in the spar or else it would rattle around and fall out. That seems like a very space saving effective way to improve sound quality to me.

I had an amp for all the speakers as well as one for the subs and I put the amp for the speakers into my glove compartment. That way I could adjust settings and stuff real easy.

I put an amp with the spare tire (it'll fit) and custum built two speaker boxes into the rear wheel wells under the carpet. Removed the padding from under the carpet on the flaps, and put in 2 8" Polk Audio PUNCH series speakers that only require .33 Cubic feet of box space. My boxes ended up being .38, so they were plenty big in those spaces.
It's LOUD as hell, if I want to, I can have me, and cars all around me, listening to only my music. It's nice. I can provide pics of the setup if you need ideas on how to build your boxes if you choose this route. |

Hey Chris! That looks pretty good! A few questions for you:
1. Where's the amp? 2. How does it sound? Thanks Chris! -Tony |
