924 Running Rich
Something new..Car will start ok on 4 cylinders but then will shortly start running on 1 or 2 or 3 cylinders and almost stall. This keeps up for 5-10 minutes then will somewhat run fine on the freeway. It is going through more fuel(50 percent)and upon slowing down for the toll road pay booth, will almost stall out. It seems to be getting too much fuel, but why?

If your car has an oxygen sensor then it probably has a frequency valve sending gas back to the tank. I would check both of these, the pressure valve (has the little shims & o ring) in the Mixture distibutor (what ever that thing with all the injector lines & flapper is called), fifth injector & thermo time switch, & thewarm up regulator. drew1 [This message has been edited by drew1 (edited 11-06-2001).] |

Before you go to the fuel injection the experts suggest that you make sure the ignition is operating properly. Although a poor ignition would probably show up as hard starting.
One little sleeper with my 924 was that the air filter box had broken away from it's little rubber mounts and was being supported by the rubber boot. After a while the weight pulled the boot off the flow sensor at the back and the resulting, hard to see air leak caused very rough running. Other than that, disconnect the electrical connection to the frequency valve and see if proper running returns. That will tell you if the problem is in the electronic portion of the fuel injection.
