Another Mystery Part Of The Week!
Well here it is. Both sides. If you know for sure what it is just say you know and let the others keep guessing. In fact you could "help" the others with "hints"! That is throw them totally off track. Let this go a few days so all can have a shot at it.
I spent the dime but had change.

Sorry Socal have to ruin it...
Anyone that has done this knows that is the locking clip for the timing belt tensioner..... As you can see by its shape it is hard to get the P9201 porsche tool on it because of its design..... and is one of the reasons the kricket tool wont work.

Nope, sorry ae, I have to agree with auntie Wilk. It's a penny. It's an American penny, tho, so I can see why a cannuk would be wildly inaccurate.

It vaguely reminds me of a speed clip. I hate those damn things! They fall off of EVERYWHERE on the car and I don't have any laying around in the garage! Okay, really, I guess it's what Alex said it is.

Yes you are right it is a penny..... has some residue like it was squeezed out of something. I think the other piece is a coin slot for the new 1 cent fuel pumps being installed at a gas station near you.
Heads down...you loose !!!

That is the mounting bracket for the Fling-'O-Bling e-Ram module. That one appears to have been modded to accept the high temp chip.

Penny is 1983, same year as my 944.
Give you $1 (US) for it! (Isn't that like 10,000 canadian Todwic?)

ah yes, this was only found on the ‘earlies’.
it's the cell phone belt clip...1 for the alternator and the 2nd for the power steering belt. this option was only available in Canada but some were made available on ebay after their fingerless owners could no longer push the dial buttons.

Funny answer: It looks like the clip that holds my warp drive plasmatron logo in place.
Boring answer: Drip rail clip. Designed to be removable, but all it does is fall apart when drip rails are removed. Common answer: It's only one cent, so you cant put your two cents worth in..

I knew I had seen this damn frustrating clip before! I personally have no idea how to remove this thing. I need to paint what it holds on.

I still want to know how to get them off (the clips that is) without breaking anything.
Maybe you can tell us once everyone figures out what it is.

Ok, the best technique that I found was this. I just pry off the drip rails gently untill you can see the tabs on the little doohickies. then take a small screwdriver and press down on them releasing the driprails. Once they are off, take another screw driver and with force, slid the tabs over untill you can pull them off the car. Then count the number of tabs you broke, call Pelican and order replacements. They will be there by the time your painted part is ready to reinstall.

THAT is useful information.
Order the part FIRST then start the removal process. I would think something like that would only be a few dollars US right? ($24,500 canadian)

Think this was one of two clips that didn't break. Was going to put the newer trim on the 83 and discovered that you need to trim back the flange and weld the T shaped pins on. Cheaper to get a newer 944.
