Every now and again after starting my 85.5 944, the tach doesn't function. Sometime after several minutes of driving it begins to work and other times not until the car is started again. I'm sure this may be a 'contact' issue but I cannot locate anyplace in the engine compartment the tach sensor is connected. Of course it could be the guage but thought to start here. Help is appreciated.

The tach is driven with a signal from the DME.
It's probably the gauge, unless there is a broken wire from the dme to the tach. gb
